I have a female chi that is in her 3rd heat. My male and female are from seperate blood lines and planned to breed them eventually. While on a potty break this a.m., they snuck behind the tree and began to breed on thier own. After being stuck together for about 10 mins they seperated. Her heat started friday of last week. Should I expect that she may be pregnant and if so what signs should I look for? Also she is due for her distemper and rabies shots is she still able to recieve these shots while pregnant?
It is certainly possible that your dog is pregnant. Here are some signs to look for in the upcoming days and weeks:
1) She is suddenly eating nonstop.
2) That she is gaining a lot of weight.
3) She's unusually restless and agitated.
4) Her nipples have begun to swell.
5) You may also notice that her vulva looks swollen and may seem to be protruding.
You can have your vet can perform a hormone test which will give you a definitive answer. In regards to the shots, wait until the puppies are weaned. |
