Question & Answer
I did not receive an economic stimulas check, even though my daughters accountant prepared my taxes and sent them. I was told by my senator' office that I did not qualify because I am on SSI and not social security retirement, or social security disability. What is the difference between SSI and social security disability? Also, I have been told that on SSI, I am allowed to make up to and including $3000.00 per year. Is this true for SSI as well as social security disability?

The earning cutoff for Social Security disability for 2008 is $940 per month. The one exception is individuals that are blind, which is $1,570 per month. The SSI checks are based on your earned income. For the difference between SSI and SSDI, there is a good post at http://disabilityblogger.blogspot.com/2007/01/what-is-difference-between-social.html
